Seahawks under fire for sideline altercation during Rams game
The Seattle Seahawks are heading to Super Bowl LX after defeating the Los Angeles Rams 31-27. However, the victory didn’t come without its warts. Seahawks players are under fire on social media because the Fox Sports broadcast caught two of their players arguing with each other on the sidelines in the third quarter.
The argument came when the Seahawks were up 31-20 with 2:06 in the third quarter. It came about when on a 3rd and 12 from Seattle’s 49-yard line, Matthew Stafford couldn’t complete a pass intended for Puka Nacua. However, Seattle cornerback Riq Woolen decided to celebrate right in front of Matthew Stafford by following him off the field, screaming at him and other Rams on the sidelines.
The referees charged Woolen with a taunting penalty, giving the Rams 15 yards and an automatic first down. The next play, Stafford fired it to Nacua again, with Woolen covering him. This time, Nacua wouldn’t fail to secure it, scoring a touchdown to make it 31-27.

Seattle rookie safety Nick Emmanwori argued with Woolen on the sidelines afterward, probably getting on him for causing the touchdown in the first place.
That taunting penalty could’ve been a much bigger deal, with Seattle punting on the next drive and the Rams getting the ball down less than a score in the fourth quarter. However, the drive stalled out at the Seattle six-yard line, when on 4thand 4 with 4:59 left to go, Stafford couldn’t connect with tight end Terrance Ferguson, giving Seattle the ball back.
The Seahawks chewed up all but 31 seconds of the clock on their drive, and the Los Angeles Rams had a few completed passes, with Stafford even completing one to Nacua for 21 yards at the Rams 30. However, Nacua was tackled in bounds, and the Seahawks just barely escaped their home stadium with a win. Still, the Riq Woolen taunting penalty will be talked about as a potential momentum shift that Seattle stopped.
