Palestinians report 30 more deaths in Gaza from Israeli attacks
Israel continues to target Hamas and other terrorist organizations across the Gaza Strip, Israel's military said on Monday, as Palestinians reported at least 30 deaths since the morning.
Medical sources on the ground reported the casualties, which include 26 killed in Gaza City. These claims could not be independently verified.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that on Sunday it struck a building in Gaza City from which Hamas members had launched rockets towards Israel shortly beforehand.
Another projectile was fired from Gaza City towards Israel on Monday afternoon, the IDF said. There were initially no reports of casualties or damage.
Due to the highly controversial Israeli ground offensive in Gaza City, the largest urban area in the Gaza Strip, people continue to flee southwards within the territory.
More than 550,000 Palestinians have now left Gaza City, the IDF said, in response to an inquiry. Before Israel intensified its military operations in the city, it was home to around 1 million residents and internally displaced persons.
The army added that it had killed around 15 individuals in Gaza City who were active near soldiers. The military described them as terrorists.
In southern Gaza, Israel's military also said it had targeted members of terrorist organizations. Additionally, the military announced that it had killed the deputy head of Hamas's naval police, who it claimed was involved in the massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023.
