Malakai Black, one of AEW's most prominent figures, has officially become a free agent. His contract with AEW expired recently, and he has been removed from the roster page on the company's website.
Black's exit had been speculated for months, with the leader of the House of Black having been absent from TV for some time. In his place, the faction rebranded as the "Hounds of Hell," with Brody King, Julia Hart, and Buddy Matthews continuing without him.
Black's departure marks the end of a tumultuous chapter in AEW for the former NXT Champion, who signed with the company in 2021 after being released by WWE. During his AEW tenure, Black was part of some notable rivalries and even led the House of Black to success.
