Japan’s Topix hits record high in trade deal afterglow

Japan’s Topix index rose to a record high and the Nikkei share average marked a one-year peak on Thursday, as stocks climbed for a second day after Tokyo struck a long-awaited trade deal with Washington.
The Topix advanced as much as 1.4 per cent to reach 2,968.48 for the first time ever.
The Nikkei gained as much as 1.4 per cent to 41,740.71. REUTERS
