A couple were trying to enjoy a quiet, child-free morning—but their cat had very different plans, leaving internet viewers in stitches.
Madison (@cash.money.madi), 24, shared hilarious footage of the couple's persistent feline relentlessly patting a paper bag to grab their attention. The video has since racked up over 1.7 million likes and more than 5.9 million views on TikTok. "Enjoying our quiet, child free morning," reads the text overlaying the video. "All she knows is dig," Madison captioned the clip.
In the footage, the cat enthusiastically bats at the paper bag while its owner attempts to eat breakfast and scroll on their phone, undeterred by the chaotic soundtrack of crinkling.
Cats are known for batting and tapping objects for a few reasons. According to PetMD, this kind of behavior is often linked to their natural hunting instincts. Swatting at objects mimics how they might interact with prey in the wild—poking, prodding, and testing whether something is alive or just another toy. It can also be a way for them to entertain themselves when they are bored or curious about an unfamiliar texture or sound.
But, in many cases, cats engage in this behavior simply because they want their human's attention. As pet-care service Rover explains, felines are clever creatures who quickly learn what actions result in a reaction.
If pawing a bag or knocking something off a table gets them a response—even an annoyed one—then they are likely to keep doing it. Some cats meow; others tap objects; and a few will go all-out dramatic to make sure their presence is known.
Viewers found the whole scene wildly relatable. "Still sounds better than screaming children," wrote one commenter.

Madison's cat, while unnamed in the clip, has clearly earned the role of "resident disrupter," with many viewers chiming in to say their own cats behave just the same.
One viewer posted, "I swear cats can sense peace and immediately want to ruin it," while another added, "Mine waits until I'm on a call to start doing parkour."
